Dancing with Life

The song calls to me,
Two steps forward,
One step sideways,
Several steps back,
A pause to smell the flowers,
A longer pause to comfort my fear
with my current security blanket,
And then I get distracted
by the laundry, dishes, dreams,
Find myself planning
a better way to organize and decorate,
Before I know it I've taken some long detour to nowhere.
Stopping to catch my breath
and my thought,
My heart suddenly breaks through.
My ears again here the music.
So bravely I dance two steps forward,
One step sideways,
and so on...

It's just how the dance of my life goes.

The Fleeting Thought

I sent a thought out into the breeze
and it blew away like dandelion seeds
I could watch it go for a second or two
and then it was gone
now what do i do?

It was a brilliant thought, if I recall
But of course I don't remember at all
I can only briefly and brilliantly surmise
that it was something amazing
for I am quite wise

If only wisdom and memory could meet
If only they sang songs together so sweet
then I'd remember why I started this poem
now where was I going?
I guess I'll forget this one

THE VOICE THAT CALLS US HOME

We walk in a vast inner wilderness
Far from any oasis of ordinary life
Wandering seemingly alone
Searching for the path
The connection to the life
Which chooses us
But the wind, the warmth of the sun
The sand giving way beneath our weight
Reminds us that there are other forces
Besides our own
And the whisper of the love in our hearts
Tells that there are other souls out there
Searching for us and with us.
We cannot help but steer towards that voice
The song which calls us toward home
To the people and places
Where we can at last take rest
And find peace.

LOST

LOST

In the silence of the mist
The gray clouds engulf me
I am lost in the wilderness of despair
I don’t recognize the landmarks
There are no clear signs directing my path
I don’t hear your call
I wait for a sense of peace
That tells me I am going the right way
But nothing comes
I am cold, tired of searching
My muscles are aching from the struggle
And yet, I feel your presence
In my resolve to not give up.
Your energy gives me power and courage.
